As the sequel to my previous post, All About That Base: Concealer & Foundation Favorites, let’s finish the look with bronzer, blush, highlight, eyes, and lips.

For background, if you don’t already follow me on Instagram, this post goes along with my reel “Get Ready With Me Part 2.” Similar to Part 1, the reel serves as a quick peek into how I apply my makeup and which products I use, but the blog is where I share the larger details. Scroll on down to complete the look!

Hannah Meloche x sugar rush multi-purpose palette

I purchased this Tarte x Hannah Meloche collaboration palette from Ulta back in spring 2020. However, I don’t see it on their site anymore. I did, however, find a link to purchase it directly from Tarte. I was drawn to this palette because it’s multi-functional. You can use it for bronzer, blush, highlighter, and eyeshadow. If you’re a minimalist or a traveler, this is perfect for reducing the number of items in your makeup bag.

IT Brushes for Ulta Airbrush Soft Focus Blush Brush #113

IT Brushes for Ulta are amazing, and you can buy them individually if you’re not in need of a whole kit. I’ve had mine for years, and they are still like new. The bristles are soft, quality, and all you could ask for in a brush. Don’t forget to clean your brushes regularly; I clean mine with baby shampoo and water until I no longer see makeup in the sink. Then, I let the brush air dry before using it again.

When I start having a bad skin week, I often ask myself, “When is the last time I cleaned my makeup brushes?” There are a few other questions I ask myself, but that might be a whole other blog post on skincare!

Benefit Tinted Cheek & Lip Stain

Sephora, Ulta, Macy’s, Nordstrom
My favorite shade: Rose

I’m not a fan of dry, cakey lipsticks, so I LOVE a natural tint on top of ChapStick or Blistex to give my lips a pop of color and keep them moisturized. While this product is pricier than a drugstore find, it’s multi-purpose; you can cover lips and cheeks in one go. Place a few tiny dots on your cheeks and blend with your finger to create a rosy flush. You can watch my reel at the top of this page to see how I apply it to my lips as well.

Something that may not be seen in the reel is that as I take the wand out of the bottle, I kind of push off a little of the product back into the bottle so I’m not putting on too much. Then, I apply as if I’m applying with a lip gloss wand, but I pay extra attention to the area around my Cupid’s bow to define those natural lines. I do not use my finger or anything to blend afterward, as I find that just removes the product. Using the Chapstick or Blistex before the application is definitely key. Similar to how I apply moisturizer to my face before foundation, I provide the same treatment to my lips before tint.

Benetint also lasts quite a while throughout the day since it’s a stain and is more absorbed into the skin than a lipstick that will be disturbingly left on your morning coffee, or powder blush that will eventually wear off.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Up To 24HR Longwear Cream Eyeshadow Makeup

CVS, Walmart, Target, Amazon
My favorite shade: Chill Girl

For everyday, quick makeup, I love using Maybelline’s Color Tattoo. Just a quick swipe of my fingertip in a white or nude shade and BOOM, I look fresh and awake! If I want to take an extra step to look well-rested, I use white eyeliner to tightline my bottom lash line and add a little touch to the skin around my tear duct. White eyeshadow is kind of a 90s makeup trend, but I find it brings light to my face and gives an aura of polishedness.

This longwear eyeshadow also serves as a great primer if you’d like to add regular, powder eyeshadow on top for a more developed look. For everyday, I often stop after applying the shade Chill Girl since it’s pretty on its own, but I find it serves as a great starting point for a more smokey look too.

Maybelline Unstoppable Smudge Resistant Eyeliner

CVS, Walmart, Target, Amazon
My favorite shade: Espresso

For a natural, daytime look, I opt for dark brown eyeliners and mascaras. Depending on what’s in the physical store when I’m in desperate need of an eyeliner refill (eyeliner is way more crucial for me than mascara), I either get Maybelline Unstoppable Smudge Resistant Eyeliner or Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer. The two are both rich in pigment, creamy in application, and long-lasting.

Both pencils are retractable, and they come with a nicely sharpened tip that is capable of creating a cat eye if you don’t have a liquid pencil on hand. To compare the Maybelline and Rimmel eyeliners, there isn’t much of a difference between the two besides the smudge tool that comes attached to Rimmel’s pencil. However, you could just use a Q-tip to smudge your eyeliner if you’d like to blend it out or create a smokey effect.

KVD Vegan Beauty Tattoo Liner

Ulta, Sephora
My favorite shade: Mad Max Brown

This eyeliner is seriously a holy grail! I consider having this eyeliner in both brown (Mad Max Brown) and black (Trooper) a necessity in my makeup bag. After purchasing a few different drugstore liquid eyeliner pencils completely lacking in pigment, I stumbled upon Kat Von D’s tattoo liner in a birthday present package from Sephora years ago. The pigment was unreal and I was surprised to find my eyeliner did not smudge after a full, rainy pre-pandemic day in the office and on public transportation.

If you haven’t already enrolled in the free rewards program at Sephora and Ulta, I highly recommend you do. You will earn points from your purchases, which will lead to a few little freebies along the way! You will also receive a birthday present if you ask for it at the counter, which is a nice treat each year — and it’s often how I find my new favorite products.

I switch up the way I do my eyeliner depending on how rushed I am, and I have it down to a science. If I need to get ready in a crazy rush, I just use the Maybelline Unstoppable Smudge Resistant Eyeliner because it doesn’t require as much precision as a liquid eyeliner. If I have a little more time, I combine the two eyeliners as I did in the reel; I line my lid with the gel pencil, and then I switch to the liquid pencil just for the corner to do a quick flick / mini cat eye. However, if I have more time or want to put additional effort into my look, I go full liquid for the sole reason that Kat Von D’s eyeliner literally does not move.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

Walmart, CVS (waterproof); Target (washable)
My favorite shade: Brownish Black

This mascara is all I’ve ever known. It’s the mascara my mom gave me when I began experimenting with makeup in middle school, and I haven’t had a reason to stray from it. This applicator successfully lengthens lashes without the goops and clumps that result from other applicators. I also love the Brownish Black color because I can apply it to any look I’m going for — natural or bold.

For some reason, I’ve always bought the waterproof edition. I guess I’ve reasoned it would stay on longer throughout the day. However, I may try out the washable version of this mascara next time I need a refill to enjoy less of a removal process. Removing the waterproof mascara requires a couple of rounds of Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water on cotton rounds to fully remove the product before washing my face.

What other Get Ready With Me routines would you like to see? There are so many options to continue along with this series — I’m thinking hair!
